shade solutions

7 sunscreen tips:

1 use a sunscreen with broad-spectrum protection, which protects your skin from both UVB and UVA rays.
2 always wear a sunscreen with SPF 15 or higher, particularly for long-term sun exposure.
3 choose a sunscreen that’s been recognized by experts.
4 apply sunscreen liberally.
5 apply sunscreen 15-30 minutes before sun exposure.
6 re-apply sunscreen every two hours or after swimming (even if the formula is waterproof).
7 apply sunscreen daily, even if you’re just inside because UV rays can penetrate glass.
Sun smart fact: "90% of skin aging is due to the sun."
So, why aren’t you wearing sunscreen?

Sunscreen picks:

Dormer 211 Face Cream is the product that my dermatologist recommended. It’s a protective all-over skin moisturizer with SPF 30. It can be used for all skin types. It’s also hypo-allergenic, so it won’t clog pores resulting in breakouts. Another plus, it’s fragrance-free so you don’t smell like sunscreen when you apply it.

Other good picks for safe skin in the sun are: La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL SPF 60 Face& Body Cream and Vichy Capital Soleil SPF 60 Sun Block Cream.

Guerlain Météorites Powder For The Face
4 out of 5 stars

“Tucked into a box inspired by Marie Antoinette's jewelry box, these little powder pearls are the secret to a perfect complexion. The tiny spheres instantly brighten and even skin tone with a blend of soft colors that combat imperfections, and the Mother of Pearl and gold work to lighten and brighten skin. This pearly powder evens skin tone and imparts an out-of-this-world luminosity. Thanks to its multi-color formula of five different shades of pearl, it acts as a luminizer, color corrector, and powder in one.”

To be honest, it was the pretty packaging and unique make-up beads that lead me to buy this product. I was expecting a perfect coverage powder that hid all my blemishes, it wasn’t necessarily what I got, but I’m still happy with the results.

There are three different types of glows: Translucent (Mythic 01), Rosy (Pink Fresh 02), and Golden (Beige Chic 03).

I had originally purchased the Translucent (Mythic 01) glow because I have fair skin. It made my skin appear paler, so I switched to the golden glow shade expecting it to provide the coverage of foundation and more of a bronzed glow. The powder itself doesn’t have that much coverage, but applied on top of foundation or concealer, evens out the skin tone and gives your complexion a nice glow. It has a light, fresh perfumed scent and goes on smoothly. Depending on how much of the product you apply, it can give your skin a subtle to shimmering glow. The powder does what it claims, it provides your face with a sheer brightening, resulting in a luminous complexion.

the glossy beauty book

The first post is always a little intimidating because you never know what exactly to say… My name is Amanda and I’m a sixteen year-old beauty enthusiast. Despite my young age, I have a lot of knowledge on the subjects of beauty and health. I like vintage everything, European glossies, yoga, polaroids, green tea, music, travelling, sleeping, photography, hippie headbands, Sephora, summer rain, flowers, the sun and dreaming. I also love fashion, music, art, running and simplicity.

I like effortless beauty and I believe that beauty in life, is best to be natural. Beauty can be found in all different shapes and looks. Like every other girl, blemishes are the bane of my existence and a glowing complexion is something I strive for — because, if you have clear skin, why do you need make up? My hair has its good days and bad days and it’s definitely not always perfect. Health and nutrition are really important to me, not being a size zero, but being healthy.

The glossy beauty book is a blog dedicated to all things beauty and health — from a positive point of view. Through my blog, I will share my knowledge on products, offer tips and advice and basically post anything that I think is interesting and helpful concerning beauty and health.
